Christmas Day was a bit of a washout for residents of southern England, but on Boxing Day (St Stephen’s to non-Brits) the sun showed its face, and the air was crisp and clear.
An excellent day for Morris dancing, as the Blackheath Morris side went on its traditional Boxing Day tour. Three pubs were visited: the Princess of Wales and the Crown, both in Blackheath Village, and the Duke of Edinburgh (aka The Greek Spiv) in Lee Green.
We also had Fowler’s Molly dance for us, and there followed a session in the Duke of Edinburgh.
I took around 75 photos in all, but the quality overall is very poor. For some reason I had problems with focusing, and composition was hampered by my somewhat weary physical state. Click on the pictures below to open windows with photos at a higher resolution than the previews, and hover your cursor over the images for captions.
See here for more photos of the day.
The next event will be on Twelfth Night at Bankside, outside Shakespeare’s Globe theatre. This will feature wassailing, dancing, storytelling, a Mummers’ play, a Holly Man, and the Crowning of the King Bean and Queen Pea. See here for further details. I’ll be there with my camera.
