Christians erect straw man for the burning

Nottingham University professor John Milbank, a theologian whose grand plan is to develop a “fully-fledged Trinitarian ontology”, advertises a public lecture on Christian apologetics,…

“Christianity is the world’s largest religion, yet of all religions is now globally the most persecuted. Meanwhile in this country it is under cultural threat from a new militant atheism and a shallow and ignorant metropolitian secular consensus.”

An interesting thesis. But one should note that the lecture is being hosted on campus by the University of Leicester, which has refused to give its chaplaincy official blessing on the grounds that to do so would not be in keeping with the university’s liberal ethos. These shallow and ignorant metropolitan militant atheists are maybe not so mean-spirited after all.
