Social engineering on an Olympic scale

Newham-gate, in short…
I’ll tell you what happens with impossible promises. You start with an elected mayor and a one-party mini-state, who between them grab all the power for themselves, completely ignoring the institutions of civil society. You then go through the years sticking to that, out-dated, misplaced, irrelevant to the real needs, and you end in the grotesque chaos of a Labour council – a Labour council! – attempting to bribe a northern English housing charity, and threatening to hand out compulsory relocation orders to its own residents.
Lady Porter would be proud.
With apologies to the Welsh Windbag-in-Chief. And Stoke-on-Trent.
